An Open Letter To The CBS Executives

I've been reading the comments about CBS, Alex O'Loughlin, Moonlight and This Hawaii-Five-O Reboot over at Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, The various Moonlight Message Boards, The many Alex O'Loughlin Sites, I've also been reading the all the comments both positive and negative for both Moonlight and Hawaii-Five-O at  Micheal Ausiello's Article, Kristin's EOnline Blog, Matt Mitovitch's Fancast.com Blog, etc

An Open Letter To The CBS Executives

CBS was indeed the first network to have a show strictly about vampires & humans and was also the the first to have a real love story between a vampire and a human.  That show was Moonlight.    It was CBS that started the latest vampire craze all over again a craze that is still going strong with the success of HBO's True Blood, CW's The Vampire Diaries which like Moonlight  2 years ago just won The People's Choice Award for Best New Drama.  If you add in the success of the vampire films that have come out since Moonlight's cancellation it's clear to see that the vampire craze has never been hotter and is likely not going to end anytime soon.  I would like to remind you that it was also CBS who short-sightedly canceled Moonlight just after 16 episodes when this latest vampire craze was just getting ready to really take off at full force.

As you know Moonlight won The People's Choice Award in 2007 for The Best New Drama.  Since it's cancellation fans wrote to Warner Brothers tirelessly and it was released on DVD with just the episodes no extras that normally come with any DVD.  Back in 2009 Moonlight The Complete Series was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Series On DVD.   Moonlight won that award.

Moonlight had everything that makes a show work.  An entire cast who had amazing chemistry together, It had wonderful & gifted writers, beautiful sets, and outstanding music.

For many fans Moonlight was not just about lead actor Alex O'Loughlin bare-chested on a beach like in episode 13 Fated To Pretend.  It wasn't just about any one actor or any one thing in particular it was all about the whole show not only Alex O'Loughlin but also Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring, and the rest of the supporting cast,  It was the stories each and every week that brought fans back even after the writers strike.   It was the entire package of the show that we loved.  Even now two years later going on three the fans are still here wanting more they haven't gone away, that should at least say something.  Moonlight is still gaining new fans all time because of the repeats that are being shown on the SyFy Channel and ChillerTV and they say that they want to see more.

To be perfectly honest I would much rather see Alex O'Loughlin back as Mick St. John on Moonlight then see a remake of Hawaii-Five-0 a show that I couldn't stand when it was on but as child I had no choice but to watch with my parents.

Remakes of classic tv shows as rule never do well and I would hate to see Alex attached to another project that could fail the latest being the medical drama Three Rivers when you could bring back Moonlight and put him back in the role that made him a star and gave him overnight success not only here in the USA but internationally.

Moonlight already has a built in fanbase that is just going to keep getting bigger because of the repeats that are being shown.  I urge you to bring back Moonlight with it's entire cast Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring and the rest of the supporting cast intact, I would also like to request that the original creators Trevor Munson & Ron Koslow be involved because  they were the once with their team of writers that gave fans the characters and episodes that we've come to know and love so much.

Thanks for your time and consideration,
